How I got into biking..
Baby me on Dads motor
I have my bro to thank for getting me into biking!
My parents had me when they were only 18. With such a small age gap between us, they’re not just my rad parents but my friends. Dad is a whiz on a bike, back in the 80’s he used to race Motox and kicked ass too. So naturally my brother Joel has always ridden bikes, literally since he was 2. He got his first motor bike when he was 4 and started racing when he was 6. He can rock it on anything that has 2 wheels. I always went along as chief cheerleader with Mum, while Dad ran around the track making sure Joels bike had enough power to get up the hill. It never even occurred to me that I could be doing it too, I loved my childhood and had all my girly things, I was the boss on the piano and loads of other musical instruments.

2010..
Me and my bro, English Champs 2011!
Just over 3 years ago my brother Joel was living in Whistler and he kept encouraging his friends to take me out on the bike. I was in a pretty pants long term relationship and Joel knew that biking and everything that comes with it, (friends & lifestyle) would help me get stronger and break away. Although Joel is my little brother he has always been my inspiration, he’s amazing at everything he tries and knows exactly what he wants from life.
I finally bought my Dads old hardtail and started hitting the trails. I have never looked back since.
My first biking holiday was in 2010, Joel and I went with an awesome group of friends. Up until this point I’d still just been shredding on the hardtail, but for this holiday Joel let me ride his legendary steed that is the GTDHi drive, it’s about 9 years old but back then it was well ahead of its time, so I LOVED it! One week after we got back from Morzine I booked onto my first Pearce Cycles race, that was me hooked! Later that year I bought my first DH bike, a commencal DH supreme.
2011
In 2011 I wanted to see how well I could do at racing and entered all the Pearce Cycle rounds. I ended up surprising myself and getting 2nd in the overall series by just 0.4 of a second! I also came 2nd at the English Championships whilst my brother took the win, my brother and I both got the Midlands Champion title! I was stoked and buzzing for 2012.
2012
I managed to get a few rad sponsors, Renthal, Black Spire, O’Neal and Commencal. I got a race licence and entered the Nationals and the Pearce Rounds.
Pearce Cycles are based in Shropshire, so they use my local tracks and it’s safe to say they are the best DH races in the World. Dave and Lyndsey Pearce are biking
ambassadors well ahead of everyone else. Their uplift system is faultless and Dave regularly maintains the tracks keeping them uber rad. I’m privileged that the tracks are so close; people travel from all over the country to race the series.
At the end of the year I was ranked number 1 in the UK and took the overall win for both Pearce Cycles and the British Downhill Series. In November British cycling congratulated me on my successful year of racing and selected me to move up into the elite category! Once again.. super stoked!
